Take the orchid out of its pot and remove all potting medium (bark or moss).
Rinse the roots gently under lukewarm water.
Trim Dead Roots:
Using sterilized scissors, cut off any brown, mushy, or hollow roots. Healthy roots are firm and green or white.
Place in Vase:
Position the orchid so the bottom 1–2 inches of roots touch the water.
Make sure the crown (center) of the plant is not submerged — only the roots.
Water Rotation Method:
Semi-water culture: Keep water in the vase for 2–3 days, then leave the roots dry for the next 2–3 days. Repeat.
This mimics natural moisture cycles and prevents overwatering.
