In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well and shape into small balls.
Cook the Meatballs:
In a skillet, cook the meatballs over medium heat until browned on all sides (about 5–7 minutes). Remove and set aside.
Prepare the Tomato Sauce:
In the same pan, heat olive oil and sauté onion until soft. Add garlic, cook briefly, then stir in tomatoes, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
Combine with Meatballs:
Add the meatballs to the sauce and let simmer together for 10–15 minutes until cooked through.
Cook the Linguine:
Boil the linguine according to package instructions. Drain and mix with the meatball-tomato sauce mixture.
Bake:
Transfer everything into a baking dish. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 10–15 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden.
Serve:
Garnish with fresh basil and serve hot.
