Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

Cream the butter and sugar (or honey) together until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well. Stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.

Combine dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just mixed. Don’t overmix.

Fold in nuts or chocolate chips if using.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
