Start by thoroughly cleaning your entire apartment. Scrub countertops, vacuum every corner, mop floors, and eliminate all food crumbs and grease spots. Cockroaches thrive on even the smallest food scraps.
Seal Entry Points:
Use caulk to seal cracks, gaps around pipes, and any potential cockroach entryways. Don’t skip this step — blocking their paths forces them to come into contact with your traps.
Create Homemade Bait:
Mix 1 part boric acid, 1 part sugar, and 1 part flour. Add a little water to form a dough. Roll into small balls and place them in bottle caps or shallow dishes around your home — behind appliances, under sinks, in cabinets, and near any dark corners.
Apply Diatomaceous Earth:
Lightly dust food-grade diatomaceous earth in hidden areas — along baseboards, under furniture, and behind large appliances. This natural powder dehydrates and kills cockroaches without toxic chemicals.
Maintain Strict Cleanliness:
After setting your baits and applying DE, continue cleaning every day. Take out the trash regularly, wipe down surfaces, and store all food in sealed containers.
Monitor and Reapply:
Check and refresh bait stations every week. Within 1–2 weeks, you should see a dramatic drop in cockroach activity — and in 4–6 weeks, they should be completely gone.
