Gently remove the snake plant from its pot.

Shake off or loosen the soil to expose the root system.

Locate natural clumps and separate them by hand or with a clean knife—each section should have roots and leaves.

Plant each new section in fresh, well-draining soil and water lightly.

2. Leaf Cuttings in Soil: Snip, Plant, and Grow
Select a healthy, mature leaf and cut it into 3–4 inch pieces.

Allow the cut edges to dry and callous for 24 hours to prevent rot.

Insert the bottom side of each cutting into moist cactus or succulent soil.

Place them in bright, indirect light and water sparingly until roots develop.

3. Leaf Cuttings in Water: Watch the Magic
Cut a leaf into sections.

Place each section upright in a jar of clean water, submerging just the bottom inch.

Change the water every week to keep it fresh.

Once roots form, transfer the cutting to a pot with soil for continued growth.
