Preparation: Remove the grates from the oven and shake off any loose debris.
Soaking: Place the grates inside a large garbage bag or lay them in a bathtub.
Apply the solution: Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda all over the grates. Spray or pour white vinegar over the baking soda.
Seal and soak: If using a bag, seal it tightly. If using a bathtub, cover with hot water. Let soak for 6–8 hours or overnight.
Scrub lightly: After soaking, use a sponge or soft brush to gently scrub off loosened dirt.
Rinse and dry: Rinse thoroughly with warm water and dry with a clean cloth.
