Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk the egg, sugar, and cooking oil together until smooth. Add the orange zest, orange juice, and yogurt (or crème fraîche), and mix until well combined.
Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
Shape the Dough: Roll the dough into small balls (about the size of a tablespoon) using your hands.
Fry the Balls: Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add a little oil if needed. Place the dough balls into the pan and flatten them slightly. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.
Roll in Sugar: Once cooked, remove the dough balls from the pan and immediately roll them in a mixture of sugar and vanilla sugar for added sweetness.
