Prepare the Avocados:
Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop out the flesh.
You can discard the skin or use it for other purposes, such as making face masks or composting.
Mash the Avocado Flesh:
Place the avocado flesh into a blender or food processor. Blend until it forms a smooth paste. This will help release the oils from the pulp.
Heat the Mash (Optional):
You can gently heat the mashed avocado paste to around 130-140°F (55-60°C) to help release more oil. This is optional, but some people find that it increases the yield of oil.
Press the Paste:
To extract the oil, you'll need to press the avocado paste. If you have an oil press, place the paste into the press and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
If you don’t have an oil press, you can use a manual method by wrapping the mashed avocado in cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer, then squeezing or pressing out the oil by hand. This method won't be as efficient, but it will still work for a small batch.
