Step 1: Put on Rubber Gloves

Protect your hands by putting on rubber gloves. The oven cleaner can be harsh, so it’s important to avoid contact with your skin.

Step 2: Apply Easy-Off Oven Cleaner

Spray Easy-Off oven cleaner generously over the entire surface of the cast iron skillet. Make sure to coat both the interior and exterior of the pan. You want to ensure that the cleaner is applied evenly across the surface.

Step 3: Seal the Skillet in a Trash Bag

Place the sprayed skillet into a large trash bag and seal it. This will prevent the oven cleaner from drying out, allowing it to work effectively. Keep the bag sealed for about two days.

Step 4: Wait for Two Days

Let the cast iron skillet sit for two days in the sealed trash bag. During this time, the oven cleaner will work to break down any rust, old seasoning, and buildup that may have accumulated on the skillet.
