Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cream butter and sugars:
In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Add wet ingredients:
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Mix dry ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.

Combine:
Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until combined.

Fold in the good stuff:
Add caramel bits and chocolate chips. For extra soft cookies, mix in a splash of milk.

Shape and bake:
Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto your baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set and centers are slightly soft.

Cool:
Let cookies rest on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
