Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Cut one apple into small cubes and the other into thin slices. Toss the diced apples with 1 tablespoon of sugar to draw out the juices and set aside.
Step 2: Make the Cake Batter
In a large bowl, crack 2 eggs and beat them with a pinch of salt until light and fluffy.
Gradually add the sugar and continue whisking until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
Slowly incorporate the flour (you can use around 1 cup of all-purpose flour for a basic texture), mixing until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
Step 3: Combine Apples with the Cake Batter
Gently fold the diced apples into the cake batter, being careful not to break up the pieces too much.
Pour the batter into a greased cake pan or baking dish.
Arrange the thinly sliced apples on top of the batter for a decorative effect.
Step 4: Bake the Cake
Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 5: Cool and Serve
Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
For an extra indulgent treat, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dusting of powdered sugar.
