Skurwejantjies (Crunchy Oat and Coconut Bars)

Melt the Syrup and Butter: In a pan, melt the syrup and butter together until fully combined.

Mix Baking Soda: Dissolve the baking soda in the boiling water, then add this mixture to the melted syrup and butter.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the liquid mixture with the dry ingredients (flour, oats, Rice Krispies, desiccated coconut, and sugar). Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.

Prepare the Baking Tray: Grease a baking tray (approximately 40x25x2 cm) and spread the mixture evenly onto the tray.

Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cut into Pieces: Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then cut into pieces while still warm.
