Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together the plain flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth and combined.

Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until fully incorporated.

Add Boiling Water: Slowly pour in the boiling water, mixing continuously. The batter will be thin, but that's normal!

Bake the Cake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make the Chocolate Sauce: While the cake is cooling, prepare the chocolate sauce. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the dark chocolate, heavy cream, sugar, and butter. Stir until smooth and the sauce has thickened to your liking.

Assemble the Cake: Once the cakes have cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spoon half of the chocolate sauce over the first layer. Add the second cake layer on top and drizzle the remaining chocolate sauce over the top.
