In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. In a separate small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. Add the yeast mixture, egg, and butter to the flour. Knead into a soft, smooth dough (about 10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes in a stand mixer). Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled.

Prepare the Streusel:
In a bowl, mix flour and sugar. Add cold butter cubes and rub together with your fingers until crumbly. Set aside.

Shape the Taler:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Flatten each into a round disk (about ½-inch thick) and place on a lined baking sheet.

Add Toppings:
Sprinkle a generous amount of streusel over each disk, pressing it gently into the dough.

Bake:
Bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly on a wire rack.

Glaze:
Mix powdered sugar with milk or lemon juice to create a smooth glaze. Drizzle over the warm taler and let set.
