Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it up into small crumbles. Once fully cooked, drain any excess fat.

Sauté the Onion and Garlic: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes soft and translucent.

Prepare the Sauce: Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, chili powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.

Simmer the Sauce: Add the water to the skillet, bring the mixture to a simmer, and reduce the heat to low. Let it cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chili sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

Adjust Seasoning: Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. If you prefer a thicker sauce, let it simmer a little longer.

Serve: Pour the chili sauce hot over hot dogs and enjoy!
