Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease it lightly with non-stick spray.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Mix Wet Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add the milk and stir to combine.
4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in dense muffins. The batter should be slightly lumpy, which is perfectly fine.
5. Fill the Muffin Tin:
Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full. If desired, sprinkle a little granulated sugar on top of each muffin for a sweet finish.
6. Bake:
Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean. The tops should be golden brown and spring back when lightly touched.
7. Cool and Serve:
Allow the muffins to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.
