1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 shallot, minced
1 large garlic clove, minced
1/4 cup brandy
1 cup beef stock
1 1/2 tbsp black peppercorns, crushed
1/3 cup heavy cream
1 tsp cornstarch
2 tsp dijon mustard
Salt, to taste (optional)
For the Filet Mignon:
2, 6-ounce filet mignon steaks
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Lawry's seasoning, for dusting
Vegetable oil, for frying
