French Strawberry Cake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch springform pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar using an electric mixer until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, blending until the batter is uniform in color.
In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the sour cream, mixing until all ingredients are well incorporated.
Gently fold in the sliced strawberries.
Pour the batter into the prepared springform pan, leveling it with the back of a spoon. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar on top.
Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top of the cake begins to brown too quickly, cover it with foil partway through baking.
Let the cake cool in the pan before removing it. Serve and enjoy!
