Homemade Filet-O-Fish Burger

Prepare Fish:
Season the fish fillets with salt and pepper.
Dredge each fillet in flour, shaking off any excess.
Dip each fillet into the beaten egg.
Coat the fillets with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
Fry Fish:
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
Fry the fillets until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Drain on paper towels.
Assemble Burgers:
Spread tartar sauce on the bottom half of each bun.
Place a lettuce leaf on top.
Add the fried fish fillet, then a slice of cheese.
Top with the other half of the bun.
