Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (self-rising flour can be used for added convenience)
  • 1 12oz bottle/can of beer (any flavor, warm or at room temperature)
  • Butter for greasing the bread pan

Optional Add-ins:

  • Grated cheese (cheddar or parmesan for extra flavor)
  • Garlic powder or minced garlic
  • Herbs (rosemary, thyme, or your favorite mix)
  • 1/4 cup sugar for a slightly sweeter bread

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
  2. Prepare the Pan:
    • Generously butter a standard-sized bread pan.
  3. Mix the Ingredients:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and the entire 12oz bottle/can of beer. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  4. Customize Your Bread (Optional):
    • If you want to enhance the flavor, add in any optional ingredients such as grated cheese, garlic, herbs, or sugar. Fold them into the batter.
  5. Pour into the Pan:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared bread pan.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool:
    • Allow the beer bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  8. Remove and Serve:
    • Carefully remove the bread from the pan. The bread should easily slide out.
  9. Slice and Enjoy:
    • Slice the beer bread and enjoy it warm with butter, jam, or your favorite spread.

Tips:

  • Use self-rising flour for a slightly lighter texture.
  • Experiment with different beer flavors; lighter beers result in a milder taste, while darker beers impart a more robust flavor.
  • Try different optional ingredients to customize the bread to your liking.
  • If you don’t have beer, you can substitute it with soda (12oz).

Note:

  • The beer flavor will cook out during baking, leaving behind a delicious, non-beer-tasting bread.
